A little treat

Mr. Forbester of York who is a regular singer at many LMS events and founder of the Rudgate Singers has put a video recording of the Mass at York a few weeks ago on Youtube. You will hear the quality of the singing, the preaching and the ceremony. Thanks to Mike for this.

An occasion to remember

The Mass at St. Wilfrid's in York today was by any standard an excellent occasion. The setting, the music, the ceremony and the sermon were as good as any I have yet seen and heard. Revv Montjean, Hall and Cahill carried out their duties confidently under the hawk-eyed MC. At Benediction it was again a pleasure to see Fr. Brown of the University of Bradford give Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament. Another Leeds Priest was also in the congregation and a good number of Leeds members were able to join us and serve and be involved in the procession.

A lady and her daughter to whom I spoke at Immaculate Heart last year when Bishop Rifan visited us were present at the Mass in their native York and the lady was very complimentary about this blog - I now know who my reader is!

The picture above is by way of Leo Darroch, President of Una Voce who was the Armstrong Jones of Ushaw a few years ago at our conferences there.

Thanks be to Almighty God for such an inspiring day.

This weekend

This weekend is going to be very busy and so there will be no First Friday Mass at Immaculate Heart, Leeds but Mass will be offered as usual at Sacred Heart, Broughton at 9.30 a.m.

Mass at Broughton again on Saturday morning at 9.30 a.m.
In York on Saturday there will be the annual pilgrimage to York beginning with Mass at St. Wilfrid's next to the Minster at 1.30 p.m. followed by a procession to English Martyrs via the Shambles and the home of St. Margaret Clitherow, in whose honour the occasion takes place. It is very moving to pass the spot on the Ouse Bridge which marks the spot of her disgraceful and heroic death. Benediction at English Martyrs with veneration of the relic of St. Margaret.
Mass at Halifax at 6.00 p.m.

On Sunday the Mass at Broughton Hall will be a Missa Cantata at 11.00 a.m.
Low Mass at Castleford, St. Joseph's at 3.00 p.m. but due to ongoing building works no Mass at Heckmondwike.

May

May is the month of our Blessed Lady

Let us try to offer at least a decade of the Rosary each day for the liberation and exaltation of the Church, the Holy Father and the Propagation of the Faith.

We have a busy weekend ahead and I'll post on this tomorrow.
