Quinquagesima and important update.

 This Sunday is Quinquagesima which means that Wednesday is Ash Wednesday and so Lent starts.

1.00 p.m. St Patrick, Westgate, Bradford - the intention for this Mass is for peace in Ukraine

Tuesday:

6.00 p.m. St. Ignatius, Ossett

Ash Wednesday:

This Mass has had to be CANCELLED as we now have no priest due to an oversight. Apologies for the late notice.

Thursday:

9.30 a.m. St. Anthony, Clayton

7.00 p.m. St. Joseph, Back Street, Pontefract

Friday:

6.00 p.m. St. John the Evangelist, Buttershaw PLEASE NOTE THE EARLIER TIME.

Ukraine

 

As Ukraine finds itself in an appalling and dire situation please remember to pray for this country. Putin is a menace and must be stopped. 

Many of my old teachers and schoolfriends are of Ukrainian extraction and my heart goes out to them and their friends and families.

Sexagesima

 

This Sunday is Sexagesima Sunday meaning it is only a couple of weeks to the first Sunday of Lent.

Ossett

Fr. Aladics has contacted me to say that he is feeling suitably recovered to start offering  Mass again starting NEXT Sunday 20th February. The virus really knocked him for six. It is gratifying that Fr. is back in action.

Septuagesima

This Sunday is Septuagesima and marks the start of the pre Lent season and it is only three weeks to the first Sunday in Lent.

I am still unsure as to the situation in Ossett and will provide details as soon as I have any.

Mr Geoffrey Winn

 Of your charity please pray for the repose of the soul of Mr Geoffrey Winn, father of Fr. Simon Winn. Mr Winn died peacefully after a long and painful illness patiently borne. Sincere condolences to the family.

The funeral takes place on Thursday so there will be no Mass at Clayton on Thursday this week.

Epiphany V

 This Sunday is the fifth Sunday after the Epiphany.

I have still not heard from Fr. Aladics so cannot comment about St. Ignatius, Ossett, Masses. I will update this as soon as I know anything.
