Happy Easter!

Image result for the resurrection of jesus

Resurrexit sicut dixit, Alleluia! Alleluia! Alleluia!

Many thanks to Fr. Peter Kravos for giving us free reign at the Chaplaincy again and to Fr. Michael Hall for his determined hard work again and beautifully prepared sermons on the theme of the meanings of the word "host". I hope to post these on this blog in due course. The ceremonies went very well and for the first time in many years the paschal fire behaved, despite the rain. Decent numbers came each day and I would like to thank the singers and servers and anybody else who helped things to run smoothly. The collection for the Holy Places realised £49.10. Thank you.
Happy Easter!

Lent V and St. Joseph

But Jesus hid Himself

This weekend is the fifth Sunday of Lent or the first Sunday of the Passion and so Passiontide begins. The statues and crucifixes are veiled from today recalling the words of the Gospel, "But Jesus hid Himself".

We have three Masses:

8.00 a.m. Leeds Cathedral, Cookridge Street, Leeds
11.00 a.m. Sacred Heart, Broughton Hall, Skipton
12.30 p.m. St. Joseph's, Pakington Street, Bradford

On Monday we have the Feast of St. Joseph. St. Joseph is the Patron Saint of the Universal Church, protector of priests and the Terror of Demons as his litany tells us. We have two Masses:

10.30 a.m. Sacred Heart, Broughton Hall, Skipton
5.00 p.m. St. Joseph's, Pakington Street, Bradford

O St. Joseph,You prepared the way for Mary in our homes as terror of demons, cause them to flee from us. St Joseph, help cast out all demons that are preventing our hearts from being receptive so that she, who is receptivity, may pour out her graces into our hearts and thus enable us to more perfectly receive, retain and share the merciful love of our Lord and saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.
St. Joseph, Terror of Demons, Pray and Intercede for us. Amen
